Dinner Party Roulette

A dinner party program to dine with and get to know your neighbors

ATLANTA, GA – May 24, 2010: Ziba’s Restaurant & Wine Bar wants you to get to know your neighbors and is hosting “Dinner Party Roulette”, an innovative and fun new dinner party concept.

The atmosphere at Ziba’s Wine Bar is warm and intimate, with plenty of seating including with two large dining tables that each seat eight people.  Jeannine Doerfler, Manager of Ziba’s says, “I was looking out at the dining room one quiet night, where three different couples were quietly dining at three different tables. I thought to myself, ‘they look like such interesting people, wouldn’t they all be having so much more fun if they were seated together at that beautiful family style table in the middle of the room, getting to know each other?” That’s when the idea for “Dinner Party Roulette” was born.

Here’s how it works: Individual parties of two make reservations for Dinner Party Roulette at 8pm on the Saturday night of their choice, beginning in June. When four different parties have reserved the same date, we will confirm and coordinate all four couples to be seated at the same table, give them their first glass of wine on the house, and let the dinner party commence. Imagine how much fun it will be; four adventurous pairs who have never met, all sitting down for an evening of great food and wine, getting to know the neighbors… You never know who you’ll meet!

Ziba's will begin "Dinner Party Roulette" by  promoting to it's own Grant Park community and surrounding neighborhoods, and with the eclectic mix of people who reside in these areas, it is sure to be an interesting dinner party experience. Of course, anyone from any area of town is welcome to join the fun!  Ziba’s will buy the first two bottles of wine for the venturesome group, and will be happy to do separate checks. When dinner and dessert are over, Ziba’s will also offer their exotic hookah service, on the house, to keep the dinner party going until the wee hours of the night.

Ziba’s Restaurant &Wine Bar is located at 560 Boulevard SE, Atlanta 30312, in the heart of Historic Grant Park, and offers a delightful Mediterranean experience, including dining, a full bar and hookah lounge. Tasty Vegetarian Find

May 17th, 2010 by Cliff Bostock in Restaurants at Creative Loafing

ziba eggplant

This is one of the tastiest things I’ve eaten in weeks, vegetarian or not. It’s a whole eggplant, braised in olive oil, placed atop a grilled portobello mushroom surrounded by  a killer red sacue with pine nuts. It’s garnished with slightly braised spinach.

It’s the work of Chef Landon Thompson at Ziba’s in Grant Park.

I ordered the eggplant Sunday night as my entree, after a starter of lamb meat balls. Wayne ordered the restaurant’s hummus and babaganoush for a starter, followed by chicken spanakopita — all delicious. Don’t miss the tres leches cake with pineapple.

Ziba's Wine Bar Opens in Historic Grant Park

A Mediterranean Wine Bar and Restaurant opens in the heart of Historic Grant Park

ATLANTA, GA – April 16, 2010: The much-anticipated opening of Ziba’s Wine Bar & Restaurant is at long last upon us. Located in the former location of Solstice Café, at 560 Boulevard SE in the heart of Historic Grant Park, Ziba’s Wine Bar will offer a delightful Mediterranean experience, including dining, a full bar and hookah lounge.

Ziba’s owner Marcie Meirndorf comes from a background in the Atlanta restaurant scene, including Eclipse di Luna, Toulouse, Vinings Inn, Food Studio and Bacchanalia. Meirndorf says this about her new venture, “Ziba’s has been a long time in the making. It has been my dream to open a Mediterranean wine bar for several years, I’m so excited to finally bring it to fruition. Grant Park is such a tight knit community, we are thrilled to bring Ziba’s to the neighborhood and be a part of it.”

The extremely talented Executive Chef Landon Thompson is formerly of Dogwood, One Midtown Kitchen, and Holeman and Finch. The menu is well crafted and is influenced by several Mediterranean regions. The considerable array of tapas and main courses will include a number of vegetarian, meat and seafood items, and all of the desserts will be made in house. A few of the highlights of the menu are the Citrus Braised Baby Octopus and the Chicken “Spanikopita”, an impressive twist on the traditional savory Greek snack. Striving to take advantage of local and seasonal ingredients, some of the items on the menu will change day by day, leaving diners to wonder what Thompson will have in store for them next.

Ziba's will have a full bar and an extensive wine program inspired by the Seven Wonders of the World, including seven red wines by the glass, seven white wines by the glass, and a unique bottle selection with the very appealing and affordable one-time mark-up as a rule of thumb. The bar will also feature several specialty cocktails using natural ingredients that even the most persnickety drinkers will be sure to love.

With the stunning renovation of the interior of this space, designed entirely by Meirndorf, the atmosphere at Ziba’s is warm, relaxed, and intimate. After 9pm, Ziba’s will offer specialty hookahs with a menu of flavored tobaccos, where the sweet smell of shisha will captivate you, and instantly transport you to the old world Mediterranean Basin.
